On January 2, at 2:08 p.m., Officer Sheldrick responded to a report of someone breaking a window at the Hardwick Post Office. Investigation revealed that Gavin Fletcher had punched out a window. Fletcher was arrested and is being charged with unlawful mischief.
On Saturday, January 6, at approximately 9:54 p.m., someone called 911 to report a theft at D & L Beverage, which is located at 1955 Vt. Rte. 16 in the town of East Hardwick. The caller advised a truck pulled up to the air pump machine, a male got out, hooked a chain onto it and ripped it out of the ground. The male put the air pump machine in the back of his truck and took off northbound.
Officer George Sheldrick located the truck with the air pump machine in the back and initiated a motor vehicle stop. The operator was identified as Joel Gouin, of Barton. Gouin had an active arrest warrant in Windsor County and was also under suspension. Gouin admitted to stealing the air pump. Gouin was issued a citation to appear in Caledonia Superior court, criminal division on February 26, at 8:30 a.m., for the charge of grand larceny.
January 14, 10:00 a.m., Colin Mercier, of Hardwick, had two arrest warrants for failure to appear. He was arrested without incident at his residence. He was lodged in NECC for lack of bail.
