The Hardwick Gazette is a 135-year-old weekly newspaper that stopped printing during the pandemic and became an all-digital publication. We publish every Wednesday, except the first week of the year.
In late December 2023 the paper was given to a newly formed nonprofit organization, Northeast Kingdom Public Journalism, Inc., formed to continue the legacy of the Gazette. The new organization published its first issue on January 10, 2024.
We now provide content free online and accept donations while we pursue grant funding from corporate and institutional sources to fund our mission of providing fair and accurate local journalism, shining a light on all aspects of life in our communities and creating a forum for deeper engagement.
Now based in Greensboro, we center our coverage on Hardwick and cover 9 other area towns: Cabot, Calais, Craftsbury, Marshfield, Plainfield, Stannard, Walden, Wolcott and Woodbury.
Our work offers local news, community events, entertainment and opinion directly relating to those towns.
We produce a weekly digital publication as a PDF which subscribers are notified of when it’s published each week. All content appears as individual posts on our website: hardwickgazette.org. We share a link to each issue on Facebook and other content as time permits.
We print a small number of copies to be read while visiting the Jeudevine Memorial Library, the Village Restaurant, Front Seat Coffee, Nikki the Barber, Buffalo Mountain Market and the Civic Standard in Hardwick; the Greensboro Free Library, Craftsbury Public Library, Cabot Public Library, Woodbury Community Library and Wolcott Public Library or The Hardwick Gazette office.
