BURLINGTON – The defending USL League Two National Champion Vermont Green FC men clinched their second straight Northeast Division soccer crown last week, and the Green FC women followed suit, punching their ticket to the USLW National Championship match in Seattle.
France’s Jeremy Francou tallied five goals to set a new club record (13) to power Vermont past the Connecticut Rush 6-2 at Virtue Field last Tuesday. The Green blanked the Western Mass. Pioneers over the weekend to cap off a 13-0-1 regular season and extend its winning streak to 37 games.
The Vermont Green FC is a semi-pro soccer club made up of several University of Vermont men’s footballers who went on to capture the Division I NCAA National Championship in 2025. The Green capped off a perfect season last summer with their first-ever USL League Two National Championship.
Emily Mara scored the game winner in the 55th minute to lead the Vermont Green FC women (10-0-4) to a thrilling 1-0 win over Asheville City SC in the USLW National Semifinals. It was the eighth shut-out of the season for the Green defense. The Green will look to put a bow on a dream inaugural season with a matchup against Salmon Bay FC in the title match.
The men’s USL2 National Title defense will officially begin this weekend, with the first two rounds of the 32-team bracket at Virtue Field. The women will do battle with a Salmon Bay team that hasn’t suffered a loss in two months. The USLW National Championship is set to kick off in Seattle at 8 p.m., Saturday.
