Chip Troiano (right) will be retiring from the Vermont House of Representatives when his term ends in January. He endorses Sabrina Morrison (left) of East Hardwick to fill his Caledonia 11 House seat.

Many of you in our communities may have heard I am retiring from my seat in the Vermont House at the end of this session. It has been an honor to have served our three communities for the past 10 years.

I retire as the vice chair of the Corrections and Institutions committee. We did some good work on that committee producing a capital budget that passed out of our committee unanimously, and without opposition on the floor of the house.

During my 10 years, I have been able to prioritize and support legislation for older Vermonters, veterans, homeless Vermonters and continued support for opioid treatment.

I leave with great respect for all those I have served with over the years from both sides of the aisle. So many of us were able to vote differently on the floor, then sit together and show respect for each other when we moved from the floor of the house.

That is the way it should be.

I think it is time Regina and I spend more time together and I help watch over her “not that she needs it” (wink, wink).

It is with great pleasure that I announce that Sabrina Morrison of East Hardwick has filed to be a candidate for the Caledonia 11 House seat.

Morrison is a lifelong resident of Hardwick. She is a member of the Hazen Union and OSSU School Boards, which will be of great value next session when I am sure that good quality affordable education will likely be at the top of the agenda for the session.

I plan to remain an active member of the community and continue serving on local boards and committees.

I want to thank all those who have come to me in the past few weeks showing their gratitude for my service.

It has been extremely gratifying to have served you all.

I endorse and put my whole-hearted support behind Morrison. Let’s make her our next House Representative for Caledonia 11 district.

Chip Troiano represents Hardwick, Walden and Stannard in the Vermont House of Representatives.
