Vail Oakley Leach Jr.

DOVER, N.H. – Vail Oakley Leach, Jr., 86, passed away on June 29, 2024, in Dover, N.H.  Born in Burlington on May 11, 1938,  Vail lived a life marked by kindness and a passion for square dancing and world travel alongside his wife, Earlene.

Vail served in the Navy as a navigator in the F4 jet. After his service in the Navy, he moved to Woodbury and became employed by the State of Vermont as a civil engineer in the transportation department where he worked for over 30 years. 

Vail is survived by his wife of 60 years, Earlene Leach; son Vail Leach, III; his daughter-in-law Karen Leach; grandchildren Jeffrey and Jessica Leach; and his brother and sister-in-law Kenneth and Barbara Leach. He was preceded in death by his son Jeffrey Leach.

In keeping with Vail’s wishes, there will be no services.  Those wishing to honor Vail’s memory are encouraged to make a contribution to the Alzheimer’s Association.
