PLAINFIELD — “The Heartbreak was never a hotel. It is just a local nickname for a building going back to 1912 when the building was turned into a tenement house that once housed many of the local mill workers. Oftentimes these workers were down on their luck, which lent the name ‘The Heartbreak’ to this building,” according to the Plainfield Historical Society
