CRAFTSBURY – Paul John Pitt Lived 11/27/63 – 7/15/24 Paul Pitt, an adoring dad, sweet husband, loyal friend, kind brother, uncle and in-law loved us all with his generous heart that beat its final beat peacefully and full of reciprocated love as he slept in the early hours of July 15, in his bed at home.
Born on November 27, 1963, and raised in England, Paul first came to the States as a restless 23-year-old to walk the full length of the Appalachian trail. He returned to England for a time and eventually came back to the U.S. to settle in Vermont.
Paul lived in Greensboro Bend where he managed a general store and then moved to Craftsbury Common where he refurbished every inch of an old camp to create a lovely, eclectic home full of whimsy and charm for his family. Paul, a joyful boy-at-heart, was a skilled toymaker, upholsterer, and school bus driver. He was a large man with a large heart, easy smile and infectious laugh.
He lives on in spirit with all those he cherished: his children Seviah Pitt, Peter Pitt, Alex Pitt and Sarah Levy and his wife, Karen Pitt; in the hearts and memories of his sisters Sandra, Jill and Diana, their partners and families and with the very dearest of fiends, in-laws, and mother to his children, Martha Dunbar.
A potluck, snacks and beverages gathering (severe food allergies, please no nuts, seafood or mango) to celebrate Paul’s life and love and to share memories, kind words, photos and bad jokes in his honor will be held at his family’s home on Saturday, September 7, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Any printed photos that anyone would like to bring will be added to Paul’s memory album to be shared for generations to come.
