Cabot Cheese, Culture Festival Events Sept. 28

CABOT – Cabot Arts will host the annual Cabot Cheese and Culture Festival on Saturday, Sept. 28, from noon to 5 p.m., on the village common.

courtesy photo The Cabot village common is the main venue for producers tables, food trucks and activities during the annual Cheese and Culture Festival, Saturday, Sept. 28.

The Cheese and Culture Festival brings together Vermont cheesemakers with producers of fermented foods and beverages for an afternoon of tasting and education. Workshops, demonstrations and discussions on cheese, fermented food-making and farming practices will be offered during the afternoon. The Den at Harry’s Hardware will offer cheese and beverage pairings and special menus for the occasion.

The festival is scheduled during Cabot’s annual Fall Foliage Festival day which will add pop-up crafts markets, live music, food trucks, pumpkin carvings, wagon rides, children’s activities and leaf-peeping tours.

Demonstrations and speakers include Vegetable Fermenting with Alan LePage at 12:30 p.m.; Kombucha Making Demonstration with Beki Auclair at 1 p.m.; Cheese-Making with Jasper Hill Farm Discussion about Cheese-making at 1:30 p.m.; Make Your Own Miso Workshop with Joel Liu at 2 p.m.; speaker Grace Gershuny presentation about Soil, Food, Climate at 2:30 p.m.; cheese and beverage pairings  3 p.m. to 5 p.m., on the deck at Harry’s Hardware; live music with the Pitt Crew, 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The list of producers include Cabot Creamery, Jasper Hill Farm, Shelburne Farms, Von Trapp Farmstead, Lazy Lady Farm, Bridport Creamery, Crooked Mile Cheese, Hook and Peel (food truck, pizza), Melted Cheeserie (food truck), Nibbles of Love (food truck), HeyDay Farm and Bakery, Monte Verdi Salumi (cured meats), Littlen & Co. Coffee, Kingdom Creamery, Squashpalooza! and Fragrant Mountain Farm (kimchee).

Producers also at the festival also include Dusty Swamp Provisions, Marshfield Ferments, Vermont Fermentation Adventures, Rhapsody Foods (miso and tempe), KIS Kombucha, Citizen Cider, Shacksbury Cider, Snow Farm Vineyard, Caledonia Spirits, Olde Merle’s Mead, St. Johnsbury Distillery  and Drop-In Brewing Co.
