To the editor:
For over 35 years I’ve served as an emergency responder for the Hardwick Rescue Squad. I have witnessed firsthand the challenges faced by our local emergency medical services, particularly in finding volunteers and financial support. I’ve tried calling attention to legislative candidates about these issues for years; Katherine Sims was the first legislator to respond to me, and she quickly introduced legislation to support emergency services. Additionally, her initiative in the realm of EMS work will not only benefit communities in her district, it will benefit regions throughout the state.
Katherine has boundless energy, she’ll get out there, she shows up. She is not just a legislator who listens; she actively engages and follows up. When I reached out with a suggestion, Katherine responded promptly and took decisive action. She introduced legislation that, while not addressing every concern, is a significant step forward in supporting and improving emergency services in our communities.
Katherine is everywhere, tirelessly working to address issues. When you reach out to her, she will not only take the time to listen and understand your concerns, she will then follow up with WHAT she is doing to address the issue. This means a lot to me in a candidate, someone who is committed to showing up and following through.
