WALDEN – The Caledonia Cooperative School District (CCSD), covering Barnet, Walden and Waterford, is holding a special vote on changing the date of the school district annual meeting to Town Meeting Day in March. The meeting is currently held in early April. Most Walden voters should have received a mailed pink postcard announcing the vote.
The change would allow Australian Ballot voting on the annual CCSD school budget, election of school directors, and other ballot items to take place at the same time as voting on election of town officers, with the goal of improving overall voter participation.
This vote has been scheduled to coincide with the General Election vote on November 5, but it is not part of the General Election and voters will not automatically receive a ballot in the mail.
Voters in person on November 5, will receive ballots for both the General Election and for this school district vote.
To cast an absentee ballot on this proposal, voters must request one from the town clerk or vote early at the town clerk’s office. To request an absentee ballot for this vote, call the town clerk’s office at (802) 563-2220 or email [email protected]. Office hours are Monday to Wednesday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Thursday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
