HYDE PARK – Lamoille County Players’ 72nd season at the Hyde Park Opera House concludes with Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee’s “Inherit the Wind” which is based upon the real-life Scopes Monkey Trial of 1925 in Dayton, Tenn. The town prosecuted a high school teacher for teaching evolution, which was against the law in Tennessee until 1967. It is the story of the struggle to uphold freedom of thought and the right to teach and to learn. Although it’s about a serious subject, there are many moments of comedy as well. “Inherit The Wind” runs December 6 to 8 and December 13 to 15, at the historic Hyde Park Opera House, 85 Main St. Shows begin at 7 p.m., on Friday, and Saturday nights, with Sundays (matinees only) starting at 2 p.m. Tickets are available online at LCPlayers.com.
