Chief Larrabee and Firefighter Alec Larrabee donned SCBA equipment and found CO meter readings in the basement, almost 300 near the boiler. The house was ventilated and the heating service company contacted. Firefighters stood by for a couple of hours to ensure the safety of the homeowners.
The Walden Fire Department said, “this incident stands as a stark reminder that this could have had an entirely different outcome if there was no detector.”
