Hardwick Police Report

On December 9, 2024, at approximately 8:54 a.m., Hardwick Police were notified of a theft at the Jiffy Mart. Brent Rathburn had taken a carton of cigarettes without paying for them. Rathburn was later located and cited into Caledonia Court on January 27.

On January 6, at 7:47 a.m., the Hardwick Police Department received information that Robert Eugene Dragon III was in violation of his court ordered conditions of release. Further investigation revealed Dragon to have also stolen a vehicle and be in violation of Aggravated Operation Without Owners Consent, as well as Driving while Criminally Suspended. Hardwick Police have applied for an arrest warrant for Dragon. His whereabouts are unknown currently. Any further information leading to his whereabouts, please contact the Hardwick Police.

Lisa Ferland reported that on January 8, her 2023 red Kia Forte sustained damage to the front fender and bumper while it was parked in the Tops Market parking lot sometime between 4:30 and 5:30 p.m. If you witnessed this accident, please contact the Hardwick Police Department.

On January 9, at approximately 7:15 a.m., Brent McClure, of North Troy, was driving his 2013 Buick Verano south on Vt. Rte. 16 in Hardwick. He crossed into the northbound lane and struck a 2017 Honda CR-V operated by Joanna Gordon, of Woodbury. There were no injuries reported. Both vehicles could be considered a total loss.

McClure was processed for DWI and was cited into Caledonia Superior Court with a Court date of January 27 charging him with DWI#2 – Refusal of Test.

On January 17 at 10:55 a.m., there was a report of a single vehicle accident on the S-curves near the watering hole [water tub on Vt. Rt. 14 S.] where a car had driven into the guardrails. This location is in the town of Woodbury close to the Hardwick line. Upon arrival there had been a vehicle that had hit the guardrails, but had left the area.

On January 20 at 6:35 p.m., the Hardwick Police Department was alerted to a vehicle that had driven off the roadway, and come to rest in a bank of snow on Mackville Road in Hardwick. This vehicle was operated by Sequoyah Wolf Parchment, of Middlebury. Investigation revealed Parchment to be under the influence of an intoxicating substance. Parchment was issued a citation to appear in Caledonia County Court to be arraigned on this charge.

On January 23, between approximately 12:15 p.m. and 12:20 p.m., a vehicle ran into a Bronze colored 2012 Chevrolet Cruze belonging to David Durey of Hardwick that he had parked in Tops Market parking lot. There was damage to the right rear bumper and tail lens of the Cruze. The vehicle involved may have been a small type of pick-up truck dark blue or black in color. Area security footage is being checked. If you witnessed this event, or have information about it, please contact the Hardwick Police Department.

On January 26, at approximately 12:35 p.m., Hardwick Police responded to a reported minor two-car accident in the Tops parking lot located at 82 Vt. Rte. 15 W. The operator of vehicle one, Edith Shedd, of East Calais, was driving a 2021 Honda HR-V and stated that she misjudged the distance between the two vehicles and hit a 2024 GMC Sierra owned by Jayme Lowell, of Woodbury. Lowell’s vehicle was parked. There were only minor scuff marks on both vehicles.
