BARRE – A celebration of the Man in Black with Church of Cash, a Johnny Cash tribute will be at the Barre Opera House on Friday, March 14 at 8 p.m.

Johnny Cash’s voice, characterized by its timbre and power, remains an enduring presence. Church of Cash is preserving that legacy. With his vocals, bandleader Jay Ernest ensures that the Man in Black’s spirit lives on.
Music has been a constant presence throughout Ernest’s life. As a farm boy in rural Minnesota, he baled hay and did farm chores to save money for his first guitar at the age of 13. He says, “I loved the sounds of a choir and the deep bass voice of Johnny Cash. I played the guitar as much as possible. It didn’t take long for me to realize that music was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.”
Originally formed in Honolulu, Hawaii, in 2009, the band later relocated to Minneapolis.
