DURHAM, N.H. — Two-thirds of Vermont residents disapprove of President Trump’s performance as president, with many claiming he is undermining democracy or the Constitution. Most also disapprove of Trump’s handling of the conflict in Ukraine. Concerning the economy, seven in 10 Vermonters expect a recession within 12 months and most disapprove of Trump’s use of tariffs. A majority of state residents support forbidding female transgender athletes in women’s sports.

These findings are based on the latest Green Mountain State Poll, conducted by the University of New Hampshire Survey Center. Nine hundred and thirty-four (934) Green Mountain State Panel members completed the survey. In addition, 80 Vermont residents completed the survey after receiving an invitation via text message to complete the survey online. Overall, 1,014 Vermont residents completed the survey online between March 20 and March 24. The margin of sampling error for the survey is +/- 3.1 percent.
