Coaching Change for Caledonia United Softball

NORTHEAST KINGDOM – There will be a new face on the sidelines leading the Twinfield-Cabot-Danville softball program this spring as they change venues and their name, officially becoming Caledonia United.

Twinfield alums Christin Martin and Summer Haverick will be stepping down from their head coaching duties at Twinfield-Cabot this spring after four years successfully rebuilding the softball program. Martin and Haverick led the program to their first double digit win season and a playoff win for the first time in nearly a decade in 2023. Last season was the second-year welcoming neighboring Danville players to the program and while participation numbers and wins declined, they still were able to secure a playoff win in consecutive seasons by upsetting CA in the first round. Their playoff run ended against two-time defending state champion Blue Mountain in the quarterfinals. It was the first time the program recorded playoff wins in consecutive seasons in over 10 years. Historic flooding over the past couple of years will have long term effects on the competitive and recreational fields in Marshfield and Cabot, moving practices and games to Danville going forward.

“Unfortunately, with the move of practices and games to Danville every day, Summer and I were unable to make the drive based on our work schedules. We loved our four years returning to the program and are sad we won’t be able to continue coaching this great group of girls but are really excited to see them continue to progress this season,” said Martin.

The cooperative will continue in the footsteps of the soccer programs this past fall, officially becoming Caledonia United. Danville alum and former Division IV state champion Jennie Moore will take over head coaching duties this spring. Moore won the 2013 state title under the late legendary Paul Remick and went on to captain the Johnson State softball team for four seasons. She also was an assistant coach for the NVU-Lyndon softball team for two seasons as well as an assistant coach under Remick at Danville. Remick guided the Lady Bears to an unprecedented 12 state title games, bringing six state championships back to Danville, including 22 Final Four appearances.

All home games will be played at Paul Remick Field in Danville this spring. The Lady Bears are scheduled to start their season at home against Randolph on April 22.
