NORTHFIELD – East Calais native Caitlyn Fielder tallied seven goals in a pair of wins over Simmons University and Albertus Magnus College (AMC) last week as her Norwich University women’s lacrosse team surged to their sixth straight win.
Fielder capped off a huge week with five goals in a 21-1 home drubbing of AMC last Friday night. The sensational sophomore also helped the Lady Cadets dominate possession with a team-high 6 draws. She has started in all nine games for Norwich this spring and her 22 goals and eight assists on the season is second to only junior teammate Athena Merck (24G 7A). Fielder started all 16 games for Norwich last season, tallying 38 goals and 15 assists, capturing GNAC Rookie of the Week honors along the way. She was a three-sport star (lacrosse, field hockey, ice hockey) at U-32, amassing over 100 career points for the Lady Raider ice hockey program, while scoring over 150 career goals for the lacrosse team and leading them to a 2022 Division II state title.
The win kept Norwich (3-0) perfect in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) and was their tenth straight win against AMC. After getting bounced in the GNAC quarterfinals a season ago, the Lady Cadets (8-1) are off to their best start in over a decade. Fielder and senior teammate Ellie Moriarty from Stowe, were each named to the GNAC Weekly Honor Roll last month.
Fielder and the Lady Cadets will be back in action at Sabine Field at Haynes Family Stadium in Northfield on Saturday at 1 p.m., as they square off against Elms College.
