Share article

GREENSBORO – A granite bench in memory of Tom Hurst is being readied for August 2025 installation on the Greensboro Historical Society (GHS) front lawn. The reverse side of the bench will read: “Remembered by friends – 2025.”
Hurst grew up in Greensboro, he worked at The Willey’s Store and became a fourth generation Willey’s storekeeper. He was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2000. In 2016, he moved to Trumansburg N.Y., to be near family.
Hurst died in November 2024 of complications from a new diagnosis of pancreatic cancer.
GHS plans to raise $4,000 to build and install the bench. Donations are sought to help support the remembrance at PO Box 151, Greensboro VT 05841 or using the donation link on the GHS page, indicating the donation is for “Toms Bench.”
