DANVILLE – The Caledonia United (Twinfield-Cabot-Danville) softball team ran into one of the top contenders in Division III last week, falling to BFA-Fairfax at home to drop to 0-7 on the season.
Tatum Gaudette struck out three in four innings of work to earn the win, powering the Lady Bullets past Cal United on the road last Tuesday 16-4. Halle Rochleau finished up in the circle for BFA with a pair of strong innings and helped her own cause at the plate with a 4-4 performance that included a double. Anna Villeneuve went 3-3 with an RBI and Summer Boutin and Ella Arel combined for three more hits and a pair of RBI in the win. Amyra Simmons and Olivia Hess each belted a double for Cal United, Phoebe Crocker collected a pair of hits, and Sophi Mancini scored twice. Myah Morgan struck out five in taking the loss in the circle. Fairfax remains atop of the divisional standings with a 7-2 record.
Cal United has a busy week of softball ahead of them after inclement weather postponed matchups against Craftsbury Academy, Paine Mountain, and Richford in the last 10 days.
Lake Region Slugs Past Lady Chargers
CRAFTSBURY – Lake Region breezed past the Craftsbury Academy (CA) softball team for their fourth consecutive win last week.

Julia Gardner smashed a three-run triple and Lauren Legacy went 3-3 with a double to power Lake Region past CA on the road last Monday 22-7. The dynamic duo combined to drive in eight runs on the day for the Lady Rangers. Lindsey Brown struck out seven to earn the win and Maddy McCoy twirled a pair of hitless innings as Lake Region improved to 5-4 and moved into contention in the current Division II standings. Gracie Crown scored three times and collected a pair of hits for the Lady Chargers as they fell to 0-7 on the season.

CA was scheduled to travel to Lamoille on Tuesday, host Fairfax on Wednesday and travel to Paine Mountain on Thursday, before wrapping up a busy week at home against Burlington-Winooski on Saturday.

Strong Keeps Green Knights Rolling
ENOSBURG – Finley Strong, the daughter of former Hazen Union baseball standout Jeff Strong, drove in the only run of the game against division rival Enosburg last week to keep her Rice Memorial softball team near the top of the Division II standings.
Strong’s game winner on Friday helped Rice escape with a 1-0 road win, handing Enosburg their first loss in five games. Teammate Alayna Havreluk fired a two-hitter, striking out 12 on the day to earn the complete game shutout win. Earlier in the week, Strong smashed a two-run double to help power the Green Knights past Milton 22-8.
Rice improved to 8-1 on the season and have pivotal matchups against Harwood, Mount Abe, Middlebury and Milton this week.
