BURLINGTON – The Caledonia United (Twinfield-Cabot-Danville) softball team suffered a lopsided loss to Burlington-Winooski before taking defending Division IV champion Richford to the wire last week, falling to 0-10 on the season.
Taylor Reed scattered four hits and struck out 10 to earn the win in the circle to lead Burlington-Winooski to a 22-4 home win over Cal United last Tuesday. Quinn Vachereau led the offense with three hits and Elza Salejmani belted a double in the win. Alaina Robbins had a pair of hits, including a double for Cal United.
Adi Chagnon belted a double and a triple to lead Richford to a come from behind 20-15 road win over Cal United last Wednesday. Austin Roose had a pair of hits, including a double to give the home team a 15-14 lead in the top of the fourth before the Lady Rockets rallied with six runs in the bottom half to pull away. Aaliyah Keyes had a pair of hits and scored three runs, and Olivia Hess added a double for Cal United in the loss.
Cal United was scheduled to host Blue Mountain on Tuesday before wrapping up the regular season with a home and home against Craftsbury on Thursday and Friday.
