Game of Logging Level I, July 12

DANVILLE – Women Owning Woods (WOW) Vermont is hosting Game of Logging Level I to help develop chainsaw skills on Saturday, July 12, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. This class for women is the first in the series and focuses on introducing the participant to open face felling and the development of techniques to safely use it. Topics covered include personal protective equipment, chainsaw safety features, chainsaw reactive forces, bore cutting, pre-planning the fell and understanding hinge wood strength. Each person in the class will cut down a tree. Participants must bring a safety helmet with a face shield, eye and ear protection, chaps, as well as lunch, water and snacks for the day. If appropriate equipment is not available, reach out. Bringing a chainsaw is recommended but not required. Class size is limited to 10. The cost for this class is $200 for WOW participants.
