CABOT – River Thibault completed the Vermont State Fire Association Cadet Academy this past weekend. A junior firefighter, Thibault attended an intense five-day course hosted at the Vermont Fire Academy training grounds in Pittsford, which included practical exercises on a simulated fire ground, hose work, and vehicle extrication among other topics. Thibault was one of 39 junior firefighters at the academy.
He was extended the honor of participating in the graduation ceremony color guard based on his performance during the academy. In a statement made via Facebook, the Cabot Volunteer Fire Department wrote “We are proud of his service and commitment to our community! We are also grateful to the Vermont State Fire Association volunteers who put together this impressive program. The academy provides an excellent opportunity for junior members to grow their skill set and interest in the fire service.”
