1.
Blessed indeed
Is the water
Of Caspian Lake,
Where the ripples
Blown by a gentle wind
Carry the soft
Fragrance of snow.
2.
On warm summer’s day,
Let us cast off our clothes
And cover our weary skin
In the clear cool water
Of long melted winter.
3.
On a sunny July evening,
Let us peel potatoes
And shuck ears of corn
In preparation for a picnic
With friends on Barr Hill.
4.
On a windy morning,
Let us all lie in bed
Windows open to the air
Listening to the little waves lapping
Those rocks, these trees, this shore.
5.
The holiest place
I’ve found up North
Is this water ringed
By green mountains,
Protecting the peace
With line upon line
Of heaven heaving earth.
