WHITE RIVER JUNCTIOIN – St. Johnsbury Academy (SJA) two-sport star Rex Hauser, put a cherry on top of an incredible year, leading his St. Johnsbury Post 58 baseball team to a state title in Legion ball over the weekend.
Hauser earned the win on the mound with six-and-a-third innings of work and belted a triple as Post 58 beat Essex 8-3 on Sunday to claim their first Legion State Championship at Maxfield Sports Complex. The 6-foot-6 right-hander earned Tournament MVP honors and was joined on the All-Tournament team by Hilltopper teammates Declan Kendall, Will Eaton, Joe LeBlanc, and Adrian Mitchell. SJA won the Division I baseball championship earlier this spring. Hauser made state history in his senior season at SJA, being named Vermont Gatorade Player of the Year in both basketball and baseball. He will attend the University of Maine in the fall with the intent to play baseball.
