Single-Vehicle Crash

On April 8, at 2:58 p.m., the Vermont State Police received a report of a single-vehicle crash on Vt. Rte. 14 in Craftsbury. Investigation revealed that Christopher Dix, of Williamstown, went off the roadway into a culvert. No injuries were reported.

On April 11, at approximately 9:29 p.m., Vermont State Police fielded a call for a report of a stolen vehicle. Further investigation revealed that Gerin Fortin, of Hardwick, was providing Brook Stotesbury, of Hardwick, a courtesy ride when Stotesbury pulled out a knife and attempted to assault Fortin. Fortin was able to exit his vehicle without being assaulted. Stotesbury then took control of the vehicle. Fortin attempted to stop Stotesbury from driving away and was dragged down the road several feet before letting go of the door handle. Ultimately, Stotesbury was arrested on U.S. Rte. 30 in Berlin by the Berlin Police Department on separate charges at approximately 9:57 hours.

Troopers were assisted by Berlin Police Department by citing Stotesbury to appear in Caledonia County Court on May 20, at 8:30 a.m.
