Springfest Events are All Day, May 25

HARDWICK – The town’s Springfest and parade celebration is Saturday, May 25.

New this year, is a Downtown Team Rally  at 4 p.m., starting at Positive Pie. Teams of two or more will compete in a scavenger hunt to find clues and items for free pizza and other prizes, sponsored by the Hardwick Downtown Partnership.

Some of the events include a Bird Walk on Hazen Trails at 7 a.m.; Family Fun Run and Walk registration at 8 a.m. at Hardwick Area Health Center. The run begins at 9 a.m. on the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail; American Legion Memorial Day ceremony, 10 a.m. at the Memorial Park; the parade begins at 10:30 a.m. from Hazen Union school to Atkins Field via Main Street and Spring Street.

Atkins Field opens after the parade at 11:30 a.m.; Granite Street will be closed to vehicles; free shuttle all day, 15 min. loop (Dona’s, Hazen, O’Reilly’s, K of C, United Church, Atkins Field); midway games and activities for children; food vendors and booths open including House of Pizza slices, Ric’s Fair Food, HUHA Alumni Chicken Barbecue, Jon Ramsey Burgers,  Dennis Lyon’s Smokin Hot BBQ,  Joe’s Assorted Fried Foods, Village Restaurant pies,  Benway’s ice cream novelties, Kingdom Creamery ice cream and more; craft fair opens; rides and climb-ons begin, antique Model A rides, horse-drawn hay rides; Adaptive Sports Partners test rides.

Afternoon activities include: 12:30 pm – Pie Eating Contest, near pavilion; Chili Cook-off, 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m.; Dunking Booth, 1 p.m., Atkins Field near midway; Human Truck Pull, 1:30 p.m., Granite Street; Tristen Southworth Memorial Day Classic baseball game, 2 p.m., Hardwick Elementary field; 3 p.m. vote winner and GOAT kisser announced, Dart Poker winning hand announced; Downtown Team Rally, 4 p.m., Positive Pie; Joe Brosseau Duck Dive, 7:30 p.m.; Tulip Two Step Concert and Dance party, 7 p.m., with Wild Leek River and food by Caja Madeira, hosted by The Civic Standard, Atkins Field pavilion.
