HARDWICK – On Saturday, June 8, seniors walked the stage at Hazen Union School’s graduation ceremony.
Marshalls led Hazen’s class of 2024 into their assigned seats backed by band fanfare of “Pomp and Circumstance.” Upon being seated, Hazen’s very own chorus group performed “Star Spangled Banner,” followed by Hazen’s alma mater.
A welcome speech was given by Hazen Union senior Xavier Hill, with Georgia Allen and Fenton Meyer as senior speakers.
Principal Dr. Jason DiGiulio gave a class comments speech.
The commencement address was given by Senior Class Advisor Allison Paradee.
Hazen’s Select Chorus, with Raine Berry, Abe Leveillee and Grace Cloutier, were conducted by Mavis MacNeil, all leading the chorus group in a “North by Sleeping At Last” rendition.
The Principal’s Award was given to Grace Cloutier.
Hazen grads-to-be lined up, one by one, and made their way onto the stage where they collected their diplomas.
The Hazen Union band then performed “Celtic Air and Dance No. 4” by Michael Sweeny, under the direction of Leah Gagnon.
Some graduates were honored with awards, recognition and scholarships, presented by DiGuilio, Assistant Principal Kasey Potter, Superintendent David Baker and School Board Chairperson Steven Freihofner.
Sarah Collier, Lydia Hall, Gabriel Michaud and Elliot Rosenthal graduated cum laude; magna cum laude graduates were Grace Cloutier, Daniel des Groseillier, Evie Hulme, Madeline Kaiser and Fenton Meyer; and summa cum laude graduates were Georgia Allen, Tobias Benson, Tessa Luther and Cassandra Royer.
