Gray Takes 100 En-Route to Triple Crown Championship

BARRE – Terry Pearce and Paige Whittemore brought the Street Stocks out of the pit area to lead Cody Chevrolet-Cadillac Night at Thunder Road with their 25-lap main event. The first caution on lap-four spelled trouble for title hopeful Trevor Jaques while Pearce maintained the lead on the restart over Whittemore and Jamie Davis as title hopefuls Ryan Foster, Dean Switser and Josh Lovely began to breathe down their backs. Through it all, Terry Pearce would earn his second win of the season in style, dominating the trophy dash with Paige Whittemore and Jamie Davis joining him in victory lane.

The Late Models jumped on the highbanks for their 50-lap main event with a turn three melee on the first lap bringing out the caution and ending the day for several teams. Following a lengthy clean-up, Chris Roberts jumped into the lead with Stephen Donahue and Marcel Gravel in hot pursuit. Jason Corliss and Brandon Lanphear also worked the high-groove and tested the waters for future maneuvers. Stephen Donahue powered by Roberts at the halfway point and never looked back for his second win of the season followed by Chris Roberts and Jason Corliss at the line.

The 100 championship round in the Triple Crown saw Logan Powers and Sam Caron head the field, both earning plus-2 handicaps through Plus/Minus heat race qualifying. Powers would put the hammer down from the drop of the green flag, looking to break his tie with Jason Pelkey atop the three-race standings and earn himself back-to-back crowns. Behind him a neck-and-neck fight for second between Caron and Brendan Moodie kept the field at bay with a hungry Kyle Streeter and Brandon Gray closely following the podium battle.

Gray would finally get the break around Caron and Moodie on lap-30 to begin the half-a-track march up to Logan Powers’ dominant lead. A little over a tenth-of-a-second faster Gray would catch Powers in lap traffic on lap 61 with both cars boxed in around slower lapped traffic. With another open field ahead of them, Brandon Gray kept his foot to the firewall in the green-to-checkers sprint to secure his Triple Crown Championship and take the 100 in the ACT Tri-State Flying Tiger Series. Logan Powers held on for second with Kyle Streeter coming home third.

Young-guns Cayden Green and Jaiden Del Toro brought out the Road Warriors to wrap up the night with a spirited side-by-side battle at the front. Green broke free on lap-four to gain ground ahead of his competitors as the field continued to fight two-by-two. Neal Foster got the break in fifth-place to charge up the outside lane and fight outside Green with five laps remaining. Cayden Green held on to take his first win at The Road with Neal Foster and Jaiden Del Toro in tow on the podium.
