PLAINFIELD – In a recent social media post, the Plainfield Co-op provided a community update.
Under the leadership of a general manager, Jeannine DeWald, the merger of two businesses continues. This includes, reorganization and upgrades to the Route 2 store and installation of the produce prep area, which should be completed in a few weeks.
The co-op is merging member, customer, and product data into one point of sale (POS) system, a complex process that is nearing completion over the next month.
Staffing has been reorganizing and the organization is working with vendors to secure the best deals and payment terms.
The board is accepting proposals from potential buyers for the village building. One proposal has been received. A real estate appraisal has been scheduled to determine a fair price for the building. All real estate transactions require a vote of the members.
The community has raised $523,000 in gifts and loans. The co-op seeks an additional $77,000 to reach the goal of $600,000.
The village store will close in mid-February once the POS system is in place at the Route 2 location. The move will happen in stages over several weeks. The board seeks a contract project manager to help organize volunteers and logistics around the move. For more information, see board@plainfieldcoop.
