Tax Preparation Assistance Offered

Share article

NORTHEAST KINGDOM – The Northeast Kingdom Community Action (NEKCA) Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is available to assist families and individuals who make $67,000 or less. Assistance is available with filing state and federal income taxes, small business taxes, renter credit and property tax adjustments.

NEKCA’s trained volunteers and paid staff offer tax assistance during tax season, and can help with late returns and questions after tax season is over. If individuals have received a letter from the IRS, or forgot to file a property tax adjustment claim, they can provide assistance at no cost.

To schedule an appointment, call (855) 663-5224 or email [email protected]. Taxpayers may schedule their appointment at NEKCA in St Johnsbury, Newport, Island Pond or Canaan. Full instructions will be explained in the initial call or email when scheduling an appointment.

To inquire about becoming a volunteer, contact VITA Site Coordinator Hannah Simons at [email protected]
