ENOSBURG – After taking Division II Enosburg to the wire in a tough road loss, the Twinfield-Cabot-Danville (CCSU) girls soccer team blanked Richford in their regular season finale last week to secure their first ever home playoff match as a Division III program.

Mya Renaudette scored the eventual game-winner midway through the first half to lead Enosburg to a hard-fought 1-0 road win over Caledonia United last Tuesday. Renaudette rewarded a cross from senior teammate Rory Schreindorfer with a perfect header for the only score of the game on Senior Night for the Lady Hornets. CCSU played most of the second half in Enosburg’s defensive third, but sophomore Jorja Kinney turned away all 10 shots to earn her fourth consecutive shutout. Ida Astick was equally impressive for Cal United, braving the elements to make 18 saves in the loss.
“We were badly outplayed in the first half, and I thought we made them look a little better than they actually were. The girls showed up in the second half and outplayed them by a lot, applying constant pressure. We had plenty of solid chances in that second half, but just couldn’t capitalize,” said head coach Spencer Morse.
Enosburg improved to 8-4-1 and will be the ninth ranked team in a stacked Division II tournament.

Vermont All-State selection Sloane Morse scored the first half game-winner and assisted on another to celebrate Senior Night in style, leading Cal United to a 2-0 home win over Richford on Friday. Fellow senior teammate Jorja Washburn fed Morse midway through the first half for an early 1-0 advantage and Morse returned the favor to senior Hazel Abetti two minutes into the second half to secure the seventh seed and the program’s first home playoff match in the upcoming Division III tournament. Morse led his CCSU squad to its first ever Division III playoff win over Lake Region last fall in the cooperative’s maiden season. Senior Ida Astick continued her stellar play in net, making 12 saves to earn her fourth shutout. Carley Mancini and Taylor Carson were honored for their outstanding high school careers on the pitch.
“The ladies were running on high emotions from the pregame celebration of our seniors. There is always worry that the emotions might get in the way of our thinking, but that was certainly not the case tonight. We did a great job of possessing the ball and controlling the tempo for most of the match. Ida made a couple of really nice saves and Jorja did a great job shutting down their most dangerous player Kyrielle Deuso,” said Morse.
Alba Castel Delgado recorded 10 stops in the loss as Richford fell to 4-10.
Cal United will welcome tenth seeded Woodstock to Danville in the first round of the Division III playoffs. If they advance, they will likely travel to second-seeded Windsor on Saturday for a quarterfinal match-up.
