I headed to my desk here at The Gazette this morning under a blue sky and brilliant sunshine. That seems a stark contrast to the tenor of the news bombarding us internationally, in the U.S., in Vermont and even locally where what’s happening outside the area may eventually affect us here.
Many seem unhappy about something.
Here in the Gazette office, we have plenty to grumble about if we’d let ourselves: Our new reporter is sunning herself at Disney World in Florida, our volunteer who comes in Monday and Tuesday mornings to help compose photos and put stories on the web, took off to Costa Rica with his wife, and our computer glitched on us Friday afternoon, causing us to lose the morning’s work of four people.
That leaves us working with the same crew we had last January, but making a paper twice the size we were then, with a lost day in which to do it.
With all that, we’re still smiling and plan to take it easy on ourselves until we’re back at full strength.
We hope you’re smiling too and have a chance to enjoy the snow we’ll be seeing the rest of this week.
