VERMONT − On July 25, Vermont Emergency Management (VEM) explained the difference between a Weather Watch and a Weather Warning from the National Weather Service, with pizza as an example.
A Watch means all the ingredients are present but there’s no pizza. Conditions are favorable for something to happen — but nothing’s in the oven yet. It’s the time to be alert and get prepared.
A Warning means the pizza is here. It’s too late to pick toppings. A weather event is happening or about to happen and now is the time to take action.
