BARRE – Thursday night at Thunder Road featured Cameron Powers and Jaiden Del Toro who brought the Flying Tigers to green. Powers broke out with the lead as veteran Derrick Calkins marched his way to second-place just as the caution flag flew on lap 14 for a three-car pile in turn four. Calkins would use the restart to launch to the outside groove and begin his chase to the checkered as the field remained stacked two-by-two behind him.

The Flying Tigers had the fans on their feet during the packed Independence Day Spectacular with Brendan Moodie (94VT) getting the last lap, last corner pass on Derrick Calkins (15VT) for the win.

Brendan Moodie also broke out by the halfway point, picking off the competition one by one until he was at the tail of Calkins under the two-to-go signal from flagman Jason Lamoy. Under the white flag one lap later, Moodie pulled up alongside Calkins as they motored into turn one, pulled on the outside groove down the backstretch and took down win number twenty-three over Derrick Calkins. Just behind them after a stellar battle with Robert Gordon, Mike MacAskill made it to the line first for a third-place run.

Jen Getty and Scott Weston brought the Street Stocks up the Eddie Carroll Memorial Highway to kick off their 30-lap feature. Walker Fitch and Zach Garvey took charge within the opening circuits and as Fitch drove away with the lead, Fred Fleury and Derek Farnham made hard contact with the Widowmaker front-stretch wall nearly rolling Farnham’s Ford Mustang. After a lengthy clean-up, Walker Fitch maintained position at the front and even as pressure mounted from Hayden Bushey behind him, Fitch would take his first career Street Stock win over Bushey and Zachary Garvey.Feature No. 2 from last Thursday began with defending champion Jason Corliss driving up to take win number thirty-one, tying him with Governor Phil Scott as the all-time Late Model win leaders. Back again later in the program, Stephen Donahue launched off with the lead as Scott Dragon motored closer on the outside groove. Dragon would take control just before the lap 10 caution for Mike Rubalcaba’s spin in turn three and drove off with the restart lead. From then on it was the Dragon Wagon out front with Scott Dragon taking down the win followed across the line by Jason Corliss and Bobby Therrien.

Barre’s Jason Corliss started off Thursday night by tying Phil Scott for the all-time Late Model win record with his 31st victory in the headline division.

The Road Warriors rounded out the evening for some final fireworks on track prior to the fireworks above the track. Nick Copping took off with the early lead but by the halfway point had plenty of company breathing down his neck. Mike Slingerland lined up alongside for the last lap fight as Taylor Sayers and Eddie Thompson fought hard behind them. Slingerland would take the win with Sayers and Thompson slamming by to round out the top three.
