Crankie performance, workshop, July 18

MARSHFIELD – Saturday, July 18, 1:30 p.m., after a short crankie performance, Delia Robinson will teach participants how to create their own crankie scroll and a small cardboard crankie theater at the Jaquith Public Library.

A crankie is a box with a window and a scroll with drawings that is turned by a crank, like a pre-Industrial movie. Music or narrative may be included. The long picture sequence is cranked past the viewing window. Music or narrative may be included. Crankie creators will be invited to perform their crankie shows at an event in August.


Delia Robinson is a visual artist, writer, researcher and singer, who has worked in painting and mixed media, ceramics, large-scale sculpture, and storytelling in different forms including crankie shows. Participants must be at least 12 years old. The number of participants will be limited.  RSVP at [email protected] or (802) 426-3581.
