CABOT – Laureen “Lolly” Arena of Cabot, died peacefully at home on June 20. She was born in Barton to Michael A. Malshuk and Helen E. Cerasoli.

Surviving family are son Garrett Calissi, daughter-in-law Lori, and granddaughters Chloe and Amber, all of Phoenix, Ariz.

Lolly liked to explore and travel. She lived in Vermont, New York City, upstate New York, Redondo Beach, California, and Arizona, finally returning to Vermont for the last decade of her life. She was a free spirit and did things her way. She had a zest for life and the type of personality that made a lasting impression on others. She was an advocate of alternative healthcare, owning a health food store in Brewster, N.Y., and Fort Lee, N.J., for a period of her life. She was passionate and believed in her convictions; she was a protester in the ’60s and was active in legislative issues that she felt strongly about.

Lolly was proud of her family and cherished her two granddaughters. Anyone who knew her often heard her talk about them.

Family, friends, and neighbors gathered for an intimate celebration of life on top of a little hill, overlooking the pond, on a beautiful evening at her home. There are plans to have another gathering later this summer on the West Coast with her friends and family from the time she spent living in California.
