TITUSVILLE, Pa. – Florence Davis Beard, 94, of Centerville, Penn., passed away unexpectedly Saturday afternoon November 14, at the Titusville Area Hospital.
Florence was born on August 28, 1926 in Hardwick, the daughter of the late Harold F. Davis and Bernice Allen Davis. She married Robert C. Beard on May 3, 1952 in Hardwick. He preceded her in death on August 11, 2009.
Florence was a graduate of Hardwick Academy, Class of 1944 and the University of Vermont, Class of 1948.
Florence and her husband lived in Washington, D.C. until he retired in 1973 when they moved to Centerville and purchased Southhall Gas Company. She assisted her husband in the business for many years.
Florence was a hard worker and public servant. She enjoyed nature, gardening and was interested in nutrition and cooking. She worked full time in the family business until the day she died.
Florence is survived by two children, Gary Beard of Centerville and Joyce Beard of Meadville, and by a brother, Allen F. Davis of Philadelphia and Greensboro. She was preceded in death by a sister, Marjorie Davis. She also leaves nephews Robert Southhall of Centerville; Gregory F. Davis of Malvern, Penn.; Paul S. Davis of Chester Springs., Penn.; a niece, Susan Robinson of Centerville, and several grandnieces and nephews.
