Sandy and Peter Gebbie held a Sugar-on-Snow event at their Maplehurst Farm in Greensboro on April 23. They have been hosting this free annual community maple syrup party since 1988. Sandy Gebbie is holding the jug she uses to pour syrup on trays of snow the Gebbie’s have saved from winter to harden the syrup for winding on plastic forks. Peter Gebbie is holding the obligatory doughnut that along with dill pickles (to counter the sweetness of the syrup) is part of the tradition.
