HARDWICK AREA — On July 11, the Hardwick town manager’s office declared damage to Nichols Pond Road, Kate Brook Road, Weeks Place, Bunker Hill Road, Tucker Brook Road, Center Road, Granite Street, Belfry Road.

Wolcott Street, Carey Road, Riverside Farm and Hardwick Farms Road were reportedly closed.

By July 13, most roads were functional and reopened, with the exception of Carey Road, Hardwick Farms Road and Riverside Farm Road, as well as the bridge on Vermont Route 16.

The Hardwick Farmers Market relocated to Hazen Union’s parking lot due to flooding in Atkins Field that left it covered with mud and large puddles. By Monday, July 15, the pavilion had reopened to host the weekly community meal.

GREENSBORO — On July 15, the Greensboro town clerk’s office reported an estimated $500,000 to $750,000 damage caused by recent flooding. Overlook Road and Harrington Road were closed as of July 15.

CRAFTSBURY — On July 13, Craftsbury’s only reported road closure was King Farm Road.

CABOT — Prior to the storm, Cabot’s teams prepared for flooding.

“Cabot’s Road Crew has been out flat the last two days making strategic cutouts on key roads to channel water and protect our infrastructure. Equipment will be staged at vulnerable locations to stem/mitigate any potential flooding; the town excavator and loader will be staged in the Willey Building lot to monitor the downtown culverts and drains. Sandbags are being installed this morning in the village as a precaution to channel runoff water toward the drains. Our EMS services (fire and ambulance) are on standby,” wrote Betty Ritter. July 10.

As of July 15, Blodgett Road and Jug Brook Road were temporarily closed as they were being worked on post-flooding.

The morning of Tuesday, July 16, Karen Larsen posted on the Cabot Connects Facebook group to say, “Good morning All. An important note that road work is ongoing on both Blodgett and Jug Brook Roads this morning. Please drive with caution and please slow down, particularly on West Hill Pond Road, as we want to ensure both your safety (there is a lot of truck traffic) and that of our road crew and contractors. Thank you!”

CALAIS — On July 11, Road Commissioner Kari Bradley published an update to the Calais website, declaring Peck Hill, Haggett, Bliss Pond (near Fowler/Old West Church junction), Pekin Brook, Elmslie, Robinson Hill and Woodbury Mountain to be fully closed. On Martin, Collar Hill and Dugar Brook, local drivers are urged to heed extreme caution.

MARSHFIELD — On July 12, Holt Road Bridge was the only unpassable roadway in Marshfield. Unmarked hazards are still a concern, and drivers are encouraged to minimize traffic as much as possible and proceed with caution on back roads.

PLAINFIELD — In a July 16 morning road report posted to Facebook, the town reported “Roads are in the preliminary stages of recovery.” They were open to local traffic or work vehicles only.

The post added, “Water and wastewater service has been restored to some cutoff areas.

The Brook Road bridge in the village is open to single lane traffic. This is very significant as there will be a return to being able to travel from one side of the village to another without a 35 minute car detour.”

The post indicated. Brook Road is open with a single lane to Cameron Road and major closures in both directions and is restricted to a single lane over the bridge in the Orange town line. The Cameron Road bridge is restricted to a single lane only for work trucks needing to access the town garage. Work on the Mill Street Bridge in the village is “facing some delays and it looks like it will be open early next week.” There is no access to Barre Town on Lower Road, take Middle Road instead and Vt. Route 2 remains closed from Country Club Road to Vt. Route 214.

Rec Field road is closed, residents have done work on Maxfield Road, Lee Road is open with just a single lane at the bottom, Bean Road and Gore Road have just a single lane open, “Gonyeau Road is narrowed by bad erosion on both sides: proceed with caution.”

STANNARD — The Orton Road bridge is completely impassable, as it is currently in the river, observed an area resident.

WALDEN — Cobb Road is temporarily closed, while Orton Road is suffering the loss of a bridge and is closed indefinitely. Noyestar, Bailey-Hazen, and several others are open to single-lane traffic, reported the town clerk.

WOLCOTT — The town website reports the following road closures: Vt. Route 15 by the Nazarene Church and by Morrisville Used Auto, Corley Road, Elmore Pond Road by the bridge, Gulf Road between the gravel pit and dump, School Street from the fire department to Flat Iron Road and East Hill by Bear Swamp.

WOODBURY — Select Board Chair Diana Peduzzi reported two bridges off Cabot Road on Town Highways 23 and 24, each serving just one home, continued to need work, though one had recently become passable.

“Woodbury is in the process of updating its Local Hazard Mitigation Plan. Once approved by FEMA, the plan is good for five years and the town is eligible for disaster-related funding and cost-savings. As the town embarks on this update process, community input is encouraged and appreciated,” wrote Michael Gray. A survey is available for concerns and experiences in relation to disasters.

He added, “Vermonters should report any and all damage, no matter how small or trivial, to help individuals receive financial assistance in the aftermath of the flood. To report damage, call 211 or visit vermont211.org, and be sure to include photo evidence.
