GREENBSORO — Tish Hinojosa from Austin, Texas, will perform at the Highland Center for the Arts in Greensboro this Sunday, Oct. 20, at 7 p.m. She will be joined by the Ronstadt Brothers from Tucson, Ariz. and accompanied by Vermont’s Paul Asbell.
There will be a Southwestern dinner before the show.

Tish Hinojosa performs in a benefit concert on Sunday, Oct. 20, at the Highland Center for the Arts.
The concert will, in part, support the Highland Center Arts in School program.
On Monday morning, Oct. 22, Hinojosa will offer a special performance to students at Lakeview Elementary School.
She will be releasing her album, “With a Guitar and a Pen” two days before her Highland Center show. Her blend of folk, country, Latino and pop has brought her to the White House, at the invitation of President and Mrs. Clinton, as well as to the Kennedy Center, the Grand Ole Opry and multiple performances on Austin City Limits. She has teamed up with Joan Baez, Booker T. Jones, Flaco Jimenez, Pete Seeger, Kris Kristofferson, Michael Martin Murphy, Dwight Yoakam and others.
Hinojosa writes and sings in both Spanish and English. One of 13 children born to Mexican immigrant parents in San Antonio, she has dedicated her career to playing music largely with roots in the Southwest, starting out in Tejano before moving on to singer-songwriter folk, border music and country. She began her career singing vocals with Michael Martin Murphey who took her under his wing and encouraged her solo song writing career.
Hinojosa takes a special interest in schools and young people, saying she is “very much looking forward to performing at Lakeview Elementary School.” During a prior visit to the Highland Center she helped raise money for Hazen Union Spanish language students going to visit Mexico.
Tickets for both the concert and the Southwestern dinner are available at highlandartsvt.org.
