To the editor:
Aaron Hill’s infamous Purple and Gold night got its beginnings back on December 30, 2022.
What an event it was, reliving the glory days of the Hardwick Academy Terriers. Hill went above and beyond in preparation to make that Hardwick Academy evening one for the history books. The hallways at Hazen were peppered with legacy articles detailing Hardwick Academy’s sports history. A special purple and gold banner was made and unveiled that night detailing Terrier state championships and runners-up accomplishments.
The crowd was entertained by former Terrier cheerleaders singing Hardwick Academy’s alma mater. And who can forget the moment when Hazen’s varsity team, first dressed in their normal Hazen colors, later paraded out onto the court dressed in legacy Purple & Gold basketball uniforms. It was a special night indeed.
The fourth anniversary of this special evening happens again on Thursday evening, Jan. 29. Hardwick Academy/Hazen Union Alumni Association board members will be on hand to hand out purple and gold pom poms. The Wildcats will once again be going up against the ancient rivals, Peoples Academy. The JV game starts at 5:30 with the varsity game to follow at 7 p.m. Please come out and support this salute to our great Hardwick Academy heritage.
Go Wildcats – Go Terriers!
