ESSEX JUNCTION – Dolores Colleen Booth, 99, passed away peacefully on June 3, at Maple Ridge Assisted Living in Essex Junction.
Dolores was born on May 10, 1927, in Hardwick, one of fifteen children born to the late Emile and Florence (Anair) Mercier.
She attended Hardwick Academy and, following her education, dedicated herself to a lifetime of hard work and service to others. Much of her career was spent caring for elderly individuals, a role she embraced with compassion and devotion. She also successfully managed several businesses and was the owner of D’s Chapparal in Hardwick.
Dolores had a passion for cooking and found great joy in preparing meals for family and friends. She was especially known for her delicious chicken and biscuits and her famous carrot cake, along with many other cherished recipes that brought people together around her table. Her cooking was an expression of her love, generosity and hospitality, creating lasting memories for those fortunate enough to share a meal with her.
A devoted Jehovah’s Witness, Dolores took great joy in sharing her faith with others. Her ministry was the most important work of her life, and she cherished every opportunity to speak with people about her beliefs.
Dolores is survived by her four children, Harriet Cady, Helen Gauthier, Charlene Black, and Michael Ainsworth; her sister, Jeannie Draper; many grandchildren, including Leslie Quinn of Shelburne, who lovingly served as her primary caregiver and devoted advocate for many years; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband, John Booth; three sons, Charles Quinn Jr., Emile Quinn and Dennis Ainsworth, as well as thirteen siblings.
Burial will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, June 19, in the Plain-Mont Cemetery, 4723 U.S. Route 2, East Montpelier, Vt. 05651, followed by a Memorial Service at 3 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 2070 Airport Road, Berlin.
