Thank you to the Gazette for the article entitled “Towns Develop Creative Solutions to Address Voting Accessibility” from the May 27 edition.
Perhaps Greensboro can invent their own style of maximizing voter accessibility while still keeping a Town Meeting Day.
Growing up in Michigan and coming to Vermont in 1984, I have seen the amazing benefits of having a town meeting. These don’t exist everywhere. Let’s not give up our direct input into our town decisions.
Living in Vermont demonstrates to the generations how to have face to face debate and discussions with our neighbors about issues of our town.
I’m not sure how to divide up the voting so that those who cannot come to town meeting will have their opinions counted. In these times, it’s imperative to make voting accessible to all registered voters. Maybe we should return to having a total Vermont holiday on Town Meeting Day once again?
