NORTHEAST KINGDOM – Several local softballers earned All-Mountain League honors last week for their outstanding seasons on the field this past spring.

Caledonia United’s (Twinfield-Cabot-Danville) Alaina Robbins led the way with a Mountain League First Team selection. Robbins led the heart of Cal United’s all season long and played everywhere for second-year head coach Jennie Moore. Robbins also developed into Moore’s ace in the circle this past season. The talented junior earned all four wins in the circle for Cal United and recorded a multi-homer game. Robbins should return next season as a leader on Cal United’s young team next spring. Rounding out the First Team selections were, Pitchers- Kaylee Hamlett (Blue Mountain) and Khloe Farnham (Burlington/Winooski), Catchers- BellaMead (BFA-Fairfax) and Ava Kingsbury (Blue Mountain), 1B- Lyla Mobbs (BFA-Fairfax) and Bryn Nelson (Blue Mountain), 2B- Heidi Wohlleb (Blue Mountain) and Rose Witherspoon (Richford), 3B- Jaiden Thweatt (BFA-Fairfax) and Gabby Snider (Blue Mountain), SS- Lorelei Sloan (BFA-Fairfax) and Addison Murray (Blue Mountain), OF- Lily Roy and Olivia Carbee (Blue Mountain), Moo Thay Lay Htoo (Burlington/Winooski) and Katelyn Doe (Richford, Utility- Lily Howard (BFA-Fairfax).

Second Team selections were headed by Cal United shortstop Phoebe Crocker and sophomore teammate Peyton Winn (3B). Crocker was the thumper in the middle of the Cal United lineup. The senior hit multiple home runs this past season, including a grand slam that led to an improbable comeback against Paine Mountain on Senior Week. Winn was also a top hitter in the middle of the lineup for Cal United this past spring and rounded out the pitching staff for Moore throughout the season.

Honorable Mention selections were led by Craftsbury Academy’s (Hazen) Gracie Crown (SS) and Aliya Young (Utility), along with Cal United’s Austin Roos (C).

Blue Mountain and BFA-Fairfax dominated the Mountain League once again this past season. The Lady Bucks (15-2) went undefeated within the league and breezed through the Division IV playoffs before falling to top-seeded West Rutland in the state title game. The Lady Bullets (13-4) narrowly fell to state champion Oxbow in the Division III Final Four.
