HYDE PARK – Christina Marie (Reen) Tricomi, 86, of Hyde Park, passed peacefully at her home on Saturday, June 20. She was born in New York City on December 5, 1939, to William Joseph Reen and Hannah Mary (Barrett) Reen.
Christina had a zest for life and an unquenchable thirst to live life to its fullest as was evident by her “Thelma and Louise” adventures in recent years traveling the country oftentimes with brother John and Rick and sister Mary or even dear friend Mary Kennedy. Christina loved all things Irish, her ancestral homeland Ireland and all her family and friends from the Emerald Isle, Irish pubs to Irish dances, to simply admiring the ways of the old country.
In 1968 she married Santo Tricomi and embarked on a 54-year adventure that took them from the hustle and bustle of New York City life to the laid-back country farm life in the Green Mountains of Vermont. Trading in the uniform of a New York City waitress, she embarked on a life of service to the senior citizens of Lamoille County as the program manager for the Lamoille County Council on Aging alongside her mother Hannah Reen for many years. Christina’s greatest loves were her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was always involved in their escapades of youth and into adulthood, from Irish dancing trips, proms, graduations, weddings, births, trips abroad and everything in between. She somehow managed to make each one special in their own way.
Christina is survived by her sister Mary Fagnant of Wakeforest N.C.; brothers John Reen of Johnson, William Reen (Gene) of Morrisville, Richard Reen (Diane) of Nashville, Tenn., and  Thomas Reen (Patricia) of Baltimore, Md. She also leaves her children, Margaret Draper (Dana) of Hyde Park, Bill Cafferky (Mary) of Berkeley Springs, W.V., Jane Draper (Darrell) of Hyde Park; grandchildren Casey and Josh Dewey of Berkeley Springs W.V., Christina Callahan (Kasandra Jo Locke) and Kellyann Draper, both of Hyde Park; Alex Cafferky of Berkeley Springs, W.V.; Santo Cafferky (Danyle) of Summerville, S.C.; Butch Cafferky (Kortni Minton) of Maurertown, Va.; Liam Cafferky (Ashley) of Martinsburg W.V.; Dylan Cafferky (Cierra) of Wolcott; Ethan and Aly Whipple of Berkeley Springs, W.V.; Katie and Victor Vasquez of Georgia; great-grandchildren Brooklynn, Harley, Allaynnah, Dalton, Dana, Rhyon, Celbie, Kamdon, Kyndra, Dezaray, Brantley, Athena, Presley and Lily, and hundreds and hundreds of cousins, nieces and nephews.
Christina was predeceased by her husband, Santo, of 54 years, parents William and Hannah Reen, sisters Kate, Joni, Margaret, Shelia and baby Jane; brothers Patrick and Jerome; son Christopher Cafferky and grandsons Dana “Buck” Draper and Benjamin Draper.
A Funeral Mass in Christina’s honor will be held on Friday, June 26, at noon, at Most Holy Name of Jesus (formerly Holy Cross Church) on Brooklyn Street in Morrisville followed by interment at St. Teresa’s Cemetery in Hyde Park. After the interment, family and friends are invited to gather in fellowship and remembrance at the Charlmont Restaurant from 2 to 6 p.m. Condolences and memories of Christina may be shared with her family at dgfunerals.com.
