The building was built in 1845 in District 8 as a two-room school and community building. The first floor had an entryway and classroom, the second floor had a classroom and a stage. Community gatherings were held there. A new, larger school was built in 1863, and the former school was used by the Organization of Good Templars (I.O.G.T.), then the Morrill Relief Corps, and finally by the Modern Woodmen organization. It was sold to Robert Brimblecomb in 1947 and used as a plumbing shop. The Cabot Historical Society bought the building in 1978.
