MARSHFIELD – There are a pair of hawks (possibly Goshawks) nesting on the upper section of the steep hill on Thompson Road on the trail in Marshfield Forest, roughly where the King Brook Trail intersects with Thompson Road (near bottom of hill) all the way to where Homestead Lane and Ravin Trail branch off (just past the crest of hill)
The birds are protective of their nesting area and can act aggressively to people on the trail. They swoop down at great speed while generating a series of loud warning calls. They come within a couple of feet of a head. They follow for about one-quarter of a mile and then retreat.
If possible try and avoid this section of the trail.
