Book Club to Discuss India Novel

Share article

GREENSBORO — The Greensboro Free Library Book Club is reading the novel, “Girls Burn Brighter,” for its monthly discussion, set for Thursday, Jan. 25, at 1 p.m.,  at the library. An optional second discussion time over Zoom will be held at 7 p.m. for those who can’t make it in person.

“Girls Burn Brighter,” by Shobha Rao, centers on the friendship of two young women born into impoverished families, whose hope endures to burn within despite the cruelties bestowed upon them by the outside world.

Copies of the book are available for loan at the library.

The library has a display of many other novels and nonfiction titles covering India. The display offers information to prepare for the local streaming of the Camden Conference, focusing this year on modern-day India, at the library with patron Mimi Benedict, from February 16 to February 18.  For more information and to receive the Zoom link for the book discussion, contact Library Director Paula Davidson at [email protected] or (802) 533-2531.
