GLOVER – The Museum of Everyday Life is soliciting submissions for its upcoming exhibition about stains, which will open on Sunday, July 28. The museum also invites community participation in the exhibit installation. The due date for submissions is July 1.
Stains conjure all kinds of associations, as accidental and sometimes disgusting. Intentional stains exist as the applied stain that brings out the grain of fine wood, the intricate patterns on batik and tie-dye textiles or a stained glass window. Stains can appear anywhere – on rented tuxedo shirts, teeth, or someone’s reputation. The museum will look at all things stain-related, from the Shroud of Turin to the grass stains on worn-out jeans.
To contribute to the exhibition, or for more information, contact Clare Dolan via the “contact us” form on the website www.museumofeverydaylife.org. For those interested in participating in the exhibit installation, community work days will be July 6, July 7, July 13, July 14, July 20 and July 21. Intensive installation week will be from July 22 to July 26. Use the “contact us” form on the museum website to let museum staff know when you plan to attend. The museum is located at 3482 Dry Pond Road.
