GREENSBORO – Lakeview Union School’s fifth and sixth graders will be traveling to the Flynn Center for the Performing Arts in Burlington on Friday, June 7, to participate in a pilot program in collaboration with the Middlebury College Dance Department.
The program is called Kickline! Middlebury Dance students created videos of dances that they choreographed for middle and high school students to learn. During PE enrichment class, fifth- and sixth-graders have been working hard to learn one of the dances.

As a celebration of their learning, students and their PE teacher, Rosemary Leach will ride a school bus together from Lakeview to Burlington on June 7.
When they arrive, students will participate in a dance class taught by a Flynn teaching artist.
Afterward they will walk to the bottom of Church Street in front of city hall, where they will watch a student Jazz ensemble performance at 11:15 a.m.
At 11:40 a.m. the Lakeview students will perform their dance at the Discover Jazz Festival, on the stage where they watched the jazz ensemble.
At the end of their performance they will have a picnic bag lunch and return to school.
Leach wrote to parents, saying, “I am so excited to have this opportunity and I am so very proud of each of our students for persevering to learn a long, complex dance together.”
